Shipping policy
Shipping Conditions for International Deliveries (Applicable to the following destinations: Antigua & Barbuda (XCD), Australia (AUD), Bahamas (BSD), Barbados (BBD), Dominica (XCD), Gambia (GMD), Ghana (EUR), Grenada (XCD), Guyana (GYD), Liberia (EUR), Sierra Leone (SLL), Solomon Islands (SBD), St. Kitts & Nevis (XCD), St. Lucia (XCD), St. Vincent & Grenadines (XCD), Trinidad & Tobago (TTD), United Kingdom (GBP), United States (USD) and Zambia (EUR))
1. Scope & Legal Basis These shipping conditions apply to all orders placed via Chronenwerk.com destined for the countries listed above and supplement our Terms and Conditions, Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy. German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection rules that cannot be derogated from remain unaffected where applicable.
1.1 Shipping Costs International shipments to the destinations listed above cost a flat rate of €9.90 per order. This covers standard transport from our fulfilment centre. Any additional services (express, scheduled delivery etc.) are subject to separate confirmation and the respective charges of the carrier.
2. Shipping Origin, Taxes, Customs & Delivery Area Goods are shipped directly from our fulfilment centre in Italy (European Union). Prices shown on the website include German VAT where applicable. Important – Import duties, taxes and formalities: For all destinations outside the European Union (and for the United Kingdom), the customer is solely responsible for all import duties, customs duties, VAT/GST, import taxes, brokerage fees, clearance charges and any other costs levied by the destination country’s authorities or the carrier. These costs are not included in the product price or the shipping fee and may be collected by the carrier upon delivery or by customs. Rates vary significantly by country and product (watches and jewellery are often classified as luxury or high-value goods and can attract substantial duties plus local VAT/GST). Typical examples (indicative only, subject to change and exact HS classification):
- United States: duties generally apply on every shipment (de-minimis exemption suspended); additional fees possible.
- United Kingdom: preferential duty treatment may be available under the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement if rules of origin are met; UK VAT (currently 20 %) is normally due.
- Australia: import duty (commonly 0–5 %) + 10 % GST.
- Caribbean destinations (Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana): duties on watches/jewellery frequently 20–30 % or higher + local VAT/GST (often 12–18 %).
- African destinations (Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia) and Solomon Islands: duties and taxes commonly 10–30 % + local VAT/GST; clearance can involve additional formalities.
We recommend checking the current rates with the relevant customs authority before ordering. Delays caused by customs clearance, missing documents or payment of duties are outside our control and do not entitle the customer to compensation or cancellation beyond statutory rights.
3. Shipping Providers & Service Levels We use reliable international parcel services selected by us (e.g. DHL, UPS, FedEx, DPD or comparable). The choice of provider is at our sole discretion; there is no entitlement to a specific carrier. Packaging is neutral and secure. High-value shipments are sent with signature requirement where the service is available.
4. Mandatory Personal Delivery (Watches & Jewellery) For security, insurance and fraud-prevention reasons, all orders are delivered exclusively by personal handover against signature to the named recipient or a person expressly authorised by the recipient. Delivery to parcel lockers, collection points without identification, neighbours or unattended locations is not permitted. For orders with a merchandise value of €2,500 or more, an identity check (presentation of official ID for visual inspection) may be required if offered by the carrier. If verification is not possible at the delivery address, the shipment will be held at a local branch or service point for collection upon presentation of ID. These measures may reasonably extend the delivery time.
5. Processing Times & Delivery Times Orders are normally processed within 1–3 business days after receipt of payment (Monday–Friday, excluding Italian and German public holidays). During peak periods processing may take up to 5 business days. Indicative transit times after dispatch (non-binding guidelines only):
- United Kingdom, United States, Australia: typically 5–12 business days
- Caribbean destinations: typically 8–18 business days
- African destinations and Solomon Islands: typically 10–25 business days
These times are estimates only and do not constitute guaranteed delivery dates unless expressly confirmed in writing. Customs clearance, local holidays, remote locations or carrier capacity may cause longer times. Express options are available only upon special confirmation and at the carrier’s additional charges.
6. Special Services (Strap Shortening, Engraving, Regulation) Upon request we offer watch-specific services such as strap shortening, engraving or basic regulation. These may extend processing time by 1–3 business days. Engravings, individual strap adjustments and other custom-made items are considered personalised goods and are generally excluded from the right of withdrawal where contractually agreed; statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.
7. Partial Deliveries We are entitled to make partial deliveries where this enables faster processing and remains reasonable for you. No additional shipping costs will be charged. Delivery times for the remaining items are extended accordingly.
8. Shipping Insurance & Investigation All shipments are insured at least up to the invoice value. In case of suspected loss or damage in transit we will promptly open an investigation with the carrier and file a claim. Your cooperation (photos of packaging and goods, description of damage, delivery confirmation if available) helps us process the matter efficiently. Replacement or refund will be provided – to the extent legally permissible – after completion of the investigation or confirmation by the carrier. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
9. Transfer of Risk, Visual Inspection & Transport Damage For consumers, the risk of accidental loss or damage passes only upon delivery to you or your authorised recipient. For business customers the risk passes upon handover to the carrier. Please inspect the shipment upon receipt. Obvious transport damage should be noted with the delivery person and reported to us within 24 hours so that we can handle the claim promptly. This request is solely for efficient processing; your statutory rights are not affected.
10. Non-delivery, Default of Acceptance & Returns If delivery is not possible (recipient unavailable, package not collected after notification, incomplete address etc.), the shipment will be returned to us. We will arrange reshipment and charge the actual return shipping costs plus the shipping costs for the new shipment. If you cancel in this situation, we will refund the purchase price less the actual shipping costs incurred for both the outward and return journey as well as any additional carrier charges, to the extent legally permissible. Your rights under the right of withdrawal and warranty remain unaffected.
11. Delivery Options & Risk Notice Because of the mandatory personal handover, drop-off agreements, garage contracts, delivery authorisations, parcel lockers and neighbour deliveries are excluded. If you unilaterally change delivery instructions with the carrier contrary to these conditions, you bear the risk – to the extent permitted by law – from the moment the carrier confirms the change. Statutory rights in the event of non-delivery remain unaffected.
12. Industry Specifics for Watches & Jewellery Watches are shipped – where available – with original box, papers/certificates, warranty card and any protective films. Please keep all accessories, including removed bracelet links. In the event of a return, a reduction in value may be charged if it results from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods (e.g. visible wear, missing protective films, lost links, missing accessories or damaged packaging/documents). Battery/button-cell handling instructions must be observed; used batteries can be returned free of charge in accordance with applicable battery regulations. Further information is available in our service area.
13. Retention of Title The goods remain our property until full payment has been received. For business customers the extended and expanded retention of title applies in accordance with our General Terms and Conditions.
14. Force Majeure & Extraordinary Circumstances In the event of circumstances beyond our reasonable control (labour disputes, natural disasters, official measures, global disruptions, customs delays etc.), processing and delivery times are extended accordingly. Statutory rights remain unaffected.
15. Contact & Shipment Tracking After dispatch you will receive a tracking number by e-mail where available. For questions regarding shipping please contact us at support@Chronenwerk.com and provide your order or tracking number.
