Mido is a Swiss watch brand based in Le Locle, founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren in Biel. The name derives from the Spanish “yo mido”, meaning “I measure”.

In the 1920s, Mido attracted attention with colourful ladies' watches and shaped watches modelled on the radiator grilles of well-known car brands. In 1934 came the Multifort, one of the first watches to combine automatic winding, shock protection, anti-magnetism and water resistance.

Today Mido belongs to the Swatch Group and stands for robust mechanical watches with architecturally inspired design, for example in the Ocean Star, Multifort, Baroncelli and Commander collections.
