To optimally store your wool rectangular coat and preserve the heavy 400 gsm fabric and its mothproofing properties, we recommend the following procedure: - Wash before storing: Wash the coat before long-term storage, as moths are particularly attracted to worn clothing (skin flakes, perspiration). Ensure it is completely dry.
- Airtight storage: Ideally, store the coat in an airtight vacuum-sealed bag made of thick plastic film or an airtight garment bag. This provides the most reliable protection against moth larvae.
- Maintain its shape: Hang the coat on a wide, padded hanger to prevent deformation caused by the weight of the heavy fabric. Alternatively, the coat can be stored flat to prevent the fibers from stretching out; however, it should not be compressed too tightly with other items so that the wool can "breathe."
- Natural moth protection: Additionally, sachets of lavender, cedarwood, or cedarwood blocks (sand them regularly) can be placed in the closet to deter moths.
- Storage location: Choose a cool, dry, and dark place to prevent fading and moisture damage.
