Vegan sports nutrition often offers an optimal macronutrient distribution, readily available energy, a high micronutrient density, and an abundance of antioxidants for recovery. Typical ingredients include plant-based proteins (such as pea, hemp or rice protein), sweeteners such as sugar substitutes (e.g. maltitol), fiber and fats (often coated in dark chocolate).

Protein (e.g. protein powder and EAAs/essential amino acids), creatine (creatine monohydrate), L-arginine, L-citrulline, L-glutamine and, if necessary, micronutrients such as vitamin B12.
