To maintain the suppleness of the leather and the silky sheen of the wool, you should regularly shake out the shoulder fleece, air it in fresh (ideally humid) air, and comb it with a fleece brush. Because the wool of the Northland sheep is untreated and pure, it contains natural lanolin, which repels dirt; machine or hand washing should be avoided, as this can make the leather hard and brittle. Stains should only be gently dabbed with a damp cloth. Furthermore, take care not to expose the fleece to direct heat (radiator, sun) to protect the leather and the fibers.
