The hand-forged steel pan should only be cleaned with warm water and a soft brush or sponge after it has cooled down; for stubborn residue, salt can be used as a natural abrasive. Dish soap should be avoided to prevent damaging the protective patina. The pan must never be put in the dishwasher, as the harsh detergents and moisture would immediately cause rust. After cleaning, the pan must be thoroughly dried and rubbed with a thin layer of oil to protect against corrosion.
