To ensure the longevity of your Viking drinking horn and its engraving, please observe the following care instructions: - Hand washing: Rinse the horn immediately after use with lukewarm water and, if necessary, a little mild dish soap. A bottle brush can be helpful for deep horns.
- Do not use a dishwasher: The natural material cannot withstand the heat or the harsh detergents in a dishwasher, as these can cause warping and cracking.
- Drying: After washing, allow the horn to air dry completely with the opening facing downwards to prevent waterlogging and odor formation.
- Protecting the seal: Avoid hot, carbonated, or highly acidic beverages (such as lemon juice), as these can damage the food-safe inner seal.
- Exterior care: To keep the surface and engraving smooth and shiny, the horn can occasionally be rubbed with a little vegetable oil and polished.
- Odor removal: For stubborn odors, denture cleaning tablets (e.g. Kukident) can be used; these should be briefly applied to the horn with water and then rinsed thoroughly.
