To preserve the engraving and seal of your drinking horn for the long term, you should only clean it by hand with lukewarm water and, if necessary, a little mild dish soap. Use a soft bottle brush for cleaning the inside and avoid harsh tools such as wire brushes, as these could scratch the protective coating. Rinse the horn immediately after use; do not soak it in water and never clean it in the dishwasher. Since heat and acid can damage the seal, hot or highly acidic beverages should not be poured into it. After cleaning, the horn should be left to dry completely with the opening facing downwards; the outside can occasionally be rubbed with vegetable oil to keep it supple.
